God & You

John 3 v. 16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Why God Made You

This may seem an unusual question, but in actual fact it is quite legitimate to ask why God made you as the individual person you are. It is a constant theme throughout the Bible, that God is wanting to find a "people for His name". God is wanting a people who are willing to follow His commands and take on His name. This is the reason that God made you - to give you this opportunity, and Him the pleasure of you being someone who carries God's name, an adopted son or daughter of God. Throughout the Old Testament of the Bible, there are stories about God cleansing his people from the evil that is among them, and turning their hearts to Him. This theme does not change in the New Testament of the Bible, where God seeks out a people who are willing to turn to Him.

God made you so that you might turn your heart to Him -- that you may change your life so that you will think, say and do things that please Him and glorify Him. "Here is the conclusion of the matter: fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil." Ecclesiastes 12 v. 13, 14.

1 John 4 v.9 to 12, "This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.  Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us." We can see from these verses that we are special in God's eyes.  We should never consider ourselves as being neglected, but rather that the God of heaven loves us so much that He has given us His very own son as a gift, and it is our duty to accept this gift from God.

Where Do I Go from Here?

Now that we know we are special in the eyes of God, what should we do and how should it be achieved?  The answer to these questions is not straightforward, however, it is rather simple.  Firstly, we must love God "with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind" (Matthew 22 v. 37).  You may ask how we can love God if we do not know about Him or have ever met Him.  The answer to this is that we must find out about Him so that we can, in effect, "see" Him. We are also able to meet God and talk to Him, and this is able to be achieved by prayer.
